Welcome to The Rutledge Perspective Podcast where we help you get out of your rut or talk you back off the ledge. Surviving corporate America, or any career choice for that matter, is not easy; but it is doable with the right tools and insights. Using my expertise in human resources and consulting, I have curated content to address challenges that arise in the career and leadership space. We will discuss topics like knowing who is really in your corner, having the courage to speak out when something just isn’t right, investing in your own development with or without corporate sponsorship, choosing your words carefully and many other topics. I will also interview some interesting regular people who have made it through successfully. Life is way too amazing to be stuck in confusion and misery! Let’s kick off Women’s History Month with a bang by talking about taking your health into your own hands. By now, we are all aware of the issues that the black community and women as a whole face as it pertains to the disparity in health care. Although I highly encourage you to see a doctor regularly, there are things that you can do to live a much healthier life. There are also things that you can do to ensure that you get the best possible care from your doctor and/or health team and I have three amazing board-certified physicians on me with me today to talk about just that.

Dr. Shayla Toombs-Withers (bio), Dr. Tuere Coulter Hawkins (bio), and Dr. Ken Redcross (bio) join me today as we explore the importance of mental health as it pertains to your overall health, proper nutrition, and how simply moving your body could help improve a lot of ailments that you’re dealing with. These experienced physicians also talk about how to be your own advocate when dealing with health professionals which is very important given the lack of black representation in the medical field. Lastly, each doctor will share their individual journey in medicine.

*Disclaimer* These doctors are not giving YOU specific health care advice. Please see your doctor or health care provider.

Please, please, please…go see your doctor and encourage others to do the same! Know your health history and be well informed of any medical conditions that you may have so that the doctors can provide you with the proper care. If you don’t have a relationship with your doctor, please work on that now so that you all can have open communication and dialogue about your overall health & wellness.
